Summertime is in full swing and while I couldn’t be happier, I’ve definitely been up to my neck in cars, cars, and more cars. So while I still don’ t have the time yet to give a proper update on the KGC10 and TA22, I’ll just update a few things that have been on the agenda lately. First up, one of the things I’m most proud of is an e-mail from that I recently received from a fellow J-tinner all the way from Germany that sent me a few pictures of a KPGC110 model that he has been building and wanted to know if he could use our logo that he painstakingly re-created himself on the banner and license plate.
All I can say is WOW. Of all of the amazing restoration shops in the world like Bikoworks, RS Start, Rocky Auto, Star Road, etc. etc…. this guy chose to use JDM Legends to represent his car and while it may not seem like much to some, I can’t even begin to describe what that means to me personally. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU. All of the little details he’s put into it are pretty amazing. A thread about the build can be seen HERE .
This actually got inspired to put in some work on that KPGC10 model I picked up in Tokyo that I never posted pics of…
I can picture it now… although I think instead of a works replica I’m going to build it as more of a works-inspired street bruiser, just like I would build my own. This may have to wait until winter hibernation though as I’m currently focused both of my non-running real cars
And on the topic of keeping cars running, I finally brought the baby hauler down to the shop for a little after hours action involving a seriously overdue timing belt, water pump, and cam seal replacement as this car now has over 115K on the clock. If you look closely you might see a couple new additions that have made their way on the TA22 . . . I know, teasers suck
Maintenance is never much fun but it’s a necessary evil we must all deal with, and now she’s all ready for another 100K miles. And after all those miles this car runs and drives just like it came off the lot. I can’t say enough about Toyota build quality and that is why I will always remain loyal.
I’ve also been spending a few late nights at the shop with Josh Clason helping him put together another video that should be out sometime next month that I’m pretty excited about.
If you haven’t seen any of his recent work or our previous video, you can check them all out HERE. That’s all for now, do yourself a favor and get out and build something this weekend!
